This is the orange from the glow that you see when you approach London from the dark of the home counties, and together with the streetlights and forever-lit office blocks, the reason we can’t see stars from here. Light that takes millions of years to reach us from the cosmos, and then gets blocked out in the last moments of its journey. Over half the population of the human race can no longer see the Milky Way.
